PhatNotes and Calligrapher Win Again, Taking Top Category Honors in Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine's Best Software Awards

Mountain View, CA, November 18, 2008 - PhatWare Corporation, a leading provider of software products and professional services for mobile and desktop computers, has again claimed "Best of Category" honors in Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine's Best Software Awards competition. The company has earned the top spot in two different categories: PhatWare's PhatNotes won twice in the "Utilities-Notes" category for both Pocket PC and Smartphone platforms, while the company's CalliGrapher handwriting recognition software took top honors in the "Utilities-Handwriting" category.

For PhatNotes, 2008 marks the eighth straight year it has claimed the highest honor a mobile application can receive in its category. Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine Best Software Awards competition is recognized as the top awards program for mobile software products, with dozens of expert judges involved in evaluating hundreds of entries. PhatNotes is an advanced notes organizer for Windows Mobile devices and Desktop PCs that allows users to create notes and organize them by type, subject, creation and modification date. The software provides powerful text search, document security, email capabilities, and allows one to synchronize notes between a device and a Desktop PC.

CalliGrapher, one of the most popular handwriting recognition products on the market, has now claimed the top spot in the "Utilities-Handwriting" category for the seventh time. The application analyzes pen strokes written in any application window, then converts those pen strokes into text and sends the recognized text to the target application. In addition to immediate recognition of words found in its integrated dictionary, CalliGrapher uses advanced techniques to recognize arbitrary letters and numbers, whether cursive, print or mixed.

"Continually earning top honors in categories loaded with tough competition is a high honor each and ever year," said Stan Miasnikov, president of PhatWare Corporation. "It's a great honor to be recognized by the top experts in the mobile technology industry."

In addition PhatWare's PhatPad application honored as finalists in the awards process in the "Utilities Notes" category for Pocket PC software, the same category that PhatNotes won. PhatWare's Pocket dbExplorer is also named as a finalist in the "Utilities System and Registry" category.

"This annual Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine Best Software Awards helps users select software that best suits their Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone needs by honoring companies that produce outstanding software." - said Hal Goldstein, publisher of the Smartphone and Pocket PC magazine. "PhatWare products have won multiple awards every year since the Best Software Awards program started eight years ago."
