PhatWare is One of 50 Organizations Selected
San Francisco, California - February 9, 2005 - PhatWare Corporation, a leading provider of software products and professional services for mobile and desktop computers, announces its selection as a Premier Partner to the Microsoft Tablet PC Partner Program. The Tablet PC Partner Program is devoted to helping organizations and individuals develop and market quality applications for the Tablet PC platform.
PhatWare was selected to the elite membership because of its development of pen and ink products. At this time PhatWare supplies two pieces of software to Tablet PC users - PenOffice, handwriting recognition software for Tablet and Desktop PCs, and PhatPad, an award-winning notes application.
"We are excited to be a part of the Microsoft Tablet PC Premier Partner Program," said Stan Miasnikov, president of PhatWare Corporation. "Access to the most up-to-date information about Tablet PC technology can help us improve the products we offer to Tablet PC users, while co-marketing opportunities will help PhatWare to extend its customer base."
As a Microsoft Tablet PC premier partner, PhatWare will have access to Tablet PC technical resources, such as developer labs, Tablet PC technology preview programs, and dedicated technical support from Tablet PC specialists. PhatWare will also have the ability to participate in Tablet PC-related trade shows, conferences, events and analyst tours.
"Microsoft is excited with the continued enthusiasm from our ISV community partners, each of which play critical roles in the development of mobile pc applications as customers increasingly seek to use their PC and access data anywhere and at anytime," said Frank Gocinski, Microsoft mobile platforms division ISV evangelist and business development manager.
In January, PhatWare released PenOffice 2.6. New features of this software include a customizable keyboard with 13 predefined layouts; support for multi-monitor systems; and Auto Corrector, which improves the quality of handwriting recognition. PenOffice 2.6 is available in two editions: English and Multilingual. While both editions have the same feature set, the Multilingual Edition offers handwriting recognition in eight western European languages.
PhatWare also recently released PhatPad 2.1, a
notes application that turns any Windows Mobile-based Tablet PC or Pocket PC
into the ultimate notepad. Users can increase their personal and professional
productivity by creating and organizing handwritten notes and drawings.
Additional features of the updated version of this software include improved
shape recognition, customizable vertical and horizontal auto scrolling and
animation mode.
