PhatWare Acquires Rights To CEMyNetwork Mobile LAN/WAN Monitoring Tool From Epiphan Consulting

Application for Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC Devices Enables Network Administrators to Monitor/Analyze Packet Activity; PhatWare to Upgrade User Interface, Expand Product Marketing

LOS ALTOS, CA and OTTAWA, ON - September 8, 2003 - PhatWare Corporation, a leading provider of software products and professional services for mobile and desktop computers, and Epiphan Consulting Inc., a leading provider of software to the mobile workforce, announced today that PhatWare has acquired the ownership rights to Epiphan’s CEMyNetwork mobile network analysis product for the Pocket PC. PhatWare will leverage its strong experience with Microsoft Windows Mobile software for Pocket PCs to bring new user friendliness to CEMyNetwork, a pioneering application for mobile network management.

CEMyNetwork, formerly known as CENiffer, was introduced by Epiphan in 1999. The software quickly gained a loyal following among enterprise-level LAN/WAN (Local Area Network/Wide Area Network) administrators and security auditors due to its ability to portray real-time data and security performance information on any Windows Mobile-based device.

"CEMyNetwork is an extremely valuable tool for network administrators. PhatWare is pleased to be able to add this practical application to its family of products for Windows-based Pocket PCs," said Stan Miasnikov, president of PhatWare Corporation. "We believe current and future customers will find the new version even more powerful and convenient, especially in an era when critical networks can require instantaneous management and analysis by mobile professionals."

"PhatWare's abilities in Pocket PC user interface design is unmatched," commented Mike Sandler, president and CEO of Epiphan Inc. "The combination of PhatWare's GUI and Epiphan’s TCP/IP stack engine will result in a product sure to become the Swiss Army Knife of every network developer."

PhatWare intends to introduce a new version of CEMyNetwork in Q4 of 2003. It will feature a new name and a new GUI (Graphic User Interface) that builds on PhatWare's award-winning Windows Mobile interface technology.

Also planned is a Software Development Kit (SDK) that will enable third-party software suppliers to develop applications that incorporate CEMyNetwork functionality.

Under the terms of the agreement, Epiphan will continue to sell CEMyNetwork until the new version of CEMyNetwork is unveiled by PhatWare. Effective immediately, the application will sell at a substantial discount from its previous price and is available for purchase via Epiphan’s corporate website, www.epiphan.com.

Versatile Monitoring Tool

CEMyNetwork, a real-time analyzer, decodes UDP, TCP, Ethernet, DNS, and NetBios packet data. It enables users to filter data by IP address, UDP port, TCP port, hardware address, or data string, and supports the creation of advanced filters for difficult-to-diagnose network problems.

Users can save session data via CEMyNetwork for later review, or export the data in Ethereal or LanWatch format for further analysis on a desktop computer. The application supports Windows CE version 2.11 or greater, including Pocket PC, Pocket PC 2002, and Windows CE 4.X.

Microsoft Support

CEMyNetwork will benefit from the resources PhatWare receives as a member of the Microsoft Mobility Partner Advisory Council (MPAC), a specialized program as part of the company’s global Mobile Solutions Partner Programs.

"As part of the MPAC program, PhatWare is one of a select group of independent software vendors, systems integrators and hardware vendors that is making significant investments in new applications for Windows Mobile-based devices," said Julie Wymetalek, partner marketing manager for the Mobile Devices Division at Microsoft. "Microsoft is excited to see PhatWare continuing to enhance its offerings for the Windows Mobile platform by adding CEMyNetwork to its catalog of applications."

Second Network Tool

PhatWare has been creating applications for use with handheld computing devices since 1997. Among its many applications for business and personal use is HPC NetProfile, a network utility program that enables IT professionals and other power users to create multiple TCP/IP network profiles for a given network adapter. The solution makes Internet access easier from the road, and is offered for Windows Mobile-based devices.
